How to Write Invoice Templates
Have your own business? You must surely have felt the need to ensure that it is run on a professional basis to optimize returns, isn’t it? One of the essential ingredients of any business is the invoice, an instrument which is issued by the seller to the buyer and is an essential record to be kept with both the buyer and the seller since it details the item bought, its price, as well as any tax that may have been levied. To create a positive impact on the buyer, it is wise to create your own template.
Thinking of how to go about it? The first thing that you should get hold of is a proper word processing software. To start off, begin making the header and then make body and the footer.
Header Composition of an Invoice Template
- Having launched your word processing program, make a new document.
- Type the name of your organization and its address, contact details, as well as other details required legally, in the style you desire, and then insert your logo.
- The next requirement would be to insert the serial number of the bill and a space for writing the date. There is always the Help Menu in your program to help you in case of any difficulty in attaining your objective.
Body and Footer Composition for a sample invoice template
- Now, to make the table, leave some space and then select “Insert Table” from the top menu. Decide on the number of rows and columns that you would normally require for providing details like item number, quantity, description of the item, rate and the amount.
- You will now have to make provision for writing the subtotal, and then another row for tax, if any. Another row would be required for freight and forwarding charges as applicable.
- Having completed the above, you should leave some space and then go about enumerating the various payment options which may be altered by deleting the options that are not applicable for that specific client.
- In case you feel it necessary to provide any other details essential to that specific transaction, you can go about it by making double space and then creating a new table consisting of a single cell. Bringing the cursor to the bottom would enable creating more space as and when required.
- Your composition of a template is now complete. By clicking on the file menu and then choosing the “Save” option, you can save the template in a location of your choice for use as and when required.
